When You Need To See An Eye Doctor

  1. Seeing Double - If you experience double vision then it’s something you should definitely be worried about whether it be regular or irregular. Double vision can cause a number of symptoms such as carrying out a daily routine, unsteadiness on the feet (dizziness and balance problems) and even simple things such as reading. If this is a reacquiring problem it’s vital you contact someone straight away.
  2. Is your eye in pain? - Eye pain is a symptom, eye pain usually presents in the form of itchiness, irritation, throbbing, pains or twitching. Often caused by injury or abrasion, there could be something stuck causing the trauma or this could be an underlying condition. Pain in your eye is not normal, sometimes it can present as a headache, it may be an issue that is fixed easily or a recurring issue. It's important to contact someone and get the problem resolved straight away.
  3. Scratches To The Eye - Our eyes are sensitive and something as small as a slight scratch to the eyeball can cause a lot of pain and irritation , these symptoms are sometimes a sign of eye infection too . The problem may go away on its own but if it continues after a day or too then it’s important to contact your eye doctor.
  4. Black Spots & Blurred Vision - Black spots and blurred vision usually happen when looking directly at bright lights. As we get older sometimes this can happen naturally as our eyes begin to deteriorate over time, we produce more fluid in our eyes and it starts to fuse together and these present as shadows on the retina. If these shadows become more frequent and you experience shadows or bright lights often then consult your eye doctor immediately.
  5. Tunnel Vision - Can you see out of the corner of your eye? This is what is known as Peripheral Vision. If this happens on one side or the other or even both in some cases, seek help from your eye doctor.
  6. Swelling - Swelling can occur in the eye through allergies such as hay fever, infection or from a buildup of fluid, look out for swelling in your eye lids especially, this could indicate signs of serious health issues that could likely impair your vision and it’s important to get it sorted.
